Yesterday was the opening of the Children of Hope exhibition. Colt Weatherston and I taught a photo workshop over the summer to children from the Capuchin soup kitchen. All the kids artwork sold. Juror Robert Stewart picked 3 prize winners who received additional prize money. It was very moving to see them all excited and proud of their achievements. Thanks to Nancyann Turner and Simon Raffel facilitators of the Rosa Parks Youth Program (part of the capuchin soup kitchen). Without them the workshop wouldn’t have happened. Thanks also to Amy DeBrunner from the Grosse Pointe Art Center for obtaining the Target grant for this project.
