Clock for Grosse Pointe Art Center Fundraiser
TIME-LESS
This
clock was inspired by Devin Scillian's poem “The Box of Time”
which is published for the first time and in his own handwriting on
this clock. The poem is part of his upcoming children's book of the
same title and talks about the most important use of time: spending
it with each other. The painting on my clock is a loose
interpretation of the pictures used in Devin's poem. The clock has
only a second hand because time spent with each other has no time.
Five minutes can be as much as five hours. The little red people
symbolize the business and constant running around we use most of our
time with. This clock is a reminder to spend our time in a meaningful
way.
A
box of Time
Silver
and gold, rubies and pearls, treasures so sublime.
But
none are so rich, none are so rare as the precious gift of time.
A
sea to swim, a star to reach, the tallest hill to climb.
Fine
and well, but nothing as sweet as the precious gift of time.
Time
can fly, time stands still, time heals all wounds, ‘tis true.
Can any gift mean
as much as the time I give to you?
